Thanks Benjamin. I read the novel when it came out. I would have never thought it would become relevant again. I’m afraid it will take decades for things to normalize again - or to feel normal again. But we may speed up the process by making ourselves heard. So thank you.

Thank you for your kind words. I re-read the book recently, and have been recommending it to many, for now-obvious reasons. I forgot to mention in the main article that HBO did a six-part series based on it that's very good, and largely true to the novel.

Let us make our voices heard.

South Africa is also a reminder that a society can be dealt a terrible set of blows and still recover in time, with leadership and determination.
